Itinerary

DAY 1:

Cusco to Queseuño to Anata

The first day begins with a 4:00 AM hotel pickup in Cusco, 11,152 feet (3399 meters). A three-hour drive to the trailhead follows. While equipment is being prepared, breakfast is provided. The guides will conduct a briefing on the day’s schedule and safety procedures.

The route passes through a valley with alpacas and local farmers, with Ausangate Mountain in the background.

The trail includes the Pucacocha pass, approximately 16,000 feet (4876 meters) above sea level. Upon reaching the pass, views of Pucacocha Lake and the surrounding area are visible. Ausangate Mountain is visible. Lunch is provided after the pass.

The overnight location is in Anata, at the base of the Andes Mountains. A dining tent with chairs is set up for dinner. The night sky is visible. Coca tea and Peruvian hot chocolate are provided.

Distance: 14 kilometers/ 8.7 miles

Altitude: 4200 meters to 5000 meters

The second day starts between 4:00 AM and 5:00 AM with coca tea delivered to the tents. Breakfast is served before the ascent to Vinicunca.

Upon arrival at Rainbow Mountain, 360-degree views are present. The location offers observation of the surrounding environment.

Following Rainbow Mountain, a one-hour descent to the Red Valley occurs. The trail continues to Llacto, where lunch and transportation back to Cusco are available.

The return trip to Cusco, 11,152 feet (3399 meters) is approximately three hours. Arrival in Cusco is targeted for around 5:00 PM. Hotel drop-off is provided.
