DAY 1:

Cusco to Cusipata, Hike to Rainbow Mountain (Vinicunca)

Departure occurs early in the morning, approximately 5:00 AM, from hotel pick-up in Cusco (3,399 meters/11,152 feet). Transportation proceeds towards the Cusipata community via a paved road for approximately 1.5 hours, followed by a 30-minute drive on a branch road to the Chillihuani village. The route passes through locations such as Tintinko and Rio Tigre. The Surina Mountain is visible from the Llacto village. The route continues through the Cusipata local government control point, where local flora and fauna, including llamas, alpacas, and vicunas, can be observed. A 20-minute drive on a road leads to the trek’s starting point.

The trek to Rainbow Mountain is approximately 1.5 hours in duration, offering views of the Red Valley, mountains, the Ausangate peak, and small lagoons. Lunch is provided during the trek. Time is allocated for viewing and photographing the Rainbow Mountain. The descent to the starting point is approximately 1.5 hours.

Transportation is provided from the starting point back to Cusco, a journey of approximately 2 hours. Arrival in Cusco is estimated at 5:00 PM, with hotel drop-off.

Walking time is approximately 3 hours, including a picnic lunch. The terrain includes open roads and steep ascents. The trek distance is 13 kilometers (8.08 miles).
